Raised along the South China Sea in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore, Voegele realized his dream of moving to NYC in 1991. During and after his college years, he traveled extensively throughout Asia, Europe and America before settling back in to Brooklyn to receive his MFA in Fine Art and Criticism from Pratt Institute in 1999. He has since then been working in various administrative roles within the New York contemporary art gallery world. Voegele is also an exhibiting artist and active curator who continues to explore his interest in comparative religions and psychology through his experiments with various mediums and exhibition projects. For the last three years Voegele was the co-founding director of ArtSpace NYC, which was located on Grand Ave. in Ft. Green, Brooklyn. In conjunction with various charitable foundations, fellow arts organizations, curators and artists, Art Space NYC produced twenty-two exhibitions and events of various scale and dimension in its last years. In a natural evolution, ArtSpace NYC gave up its physical gallery space in 2008 to transform the organization into what would become the roots of REPUBLIC. As Executive Director, Head Curator, and original founder of REPUBLIC, Voegele is responsible for the long-term vision and day-to-day logistics of the enterprise. In addition to overseeing the Executive Board and the Board of Directors, he is responsible for the artistic integrity and fiscal prudence of the organization's various projects. His long term goals for the future success of REPUBLIC are to maintain it’s core values, hold fast a standard of artistic excellence and secure investment funds and physical space from individuals, corporate sponsors and collaborators of all kinds.
