History
Beginning at as a team of three in the summer of 2006, under the name ArtSpace MCV/NYC, the organization developed a catalog of twenty two events and a substantial following within a year and a half at their permanent gallery space on Grand Ave.Ê in FT. Greene, Brooklyn. The first program year of MCV/NYC included multi-media exhibitions, film festivals, a young curators program, and numerous solo and group exhibitions in collaboration with many local and national charities and cultural institutions.
In the winter of 2008 ArtSpace MCV/NYC dissolved and REPUBLIC was conceived by original founder Jason Voegele to carry on the principles and momentum of the ArtSpace experience. Over the last year REPUBLIC Brooklyn has solidified it's board of 9 directors who meet weekly to plan future projects and events. With a larger team of multi-talented and multi-faceted individuals who have proven their dedication to quality and innovation, REPUBLIC has gone on to produce projects as eclectic asÊlarge group exhibitions of digital video projection, live music, fine art and spoken word performances, interactive new media experiments, painting, sculpture, film, photography and installation work in venues of every variety.
Through our fully developed charitable branch REACHING OUT we utilize the full capacity of ourÊresources to serve various public and private causes, often on a project by project basis but occasionally for granted periods of up ton six months. These projects have included fundraisers, auctions, lectures and presentation programs as well as, personalized guerilla marketing strategies and traditional exhibitions of fine art.
The principles of REPUBLIC fundamentally reflect the same ethical charter, dedication, and standard of quality that creative and critically thinking fraternities have organized themselves around since the first schools of thought. REPUBLIC aims to inspire like-minded people in diverse communities through high caliber artistic programs, community service, and creative curatorial projects. We strive to be an outstanding example of organization and talent that is capable of accommodating the measure of your imagination while strengthening the character of our individual members by providing meaningful opportunities for fellowship, charity, creativity, and leadership.
